1. Overview
CuroPDF (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates curopdf.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
The most important thing to understand: we never receive, process or store your PDF documents or their contents. All file processing happens locally in your browser. Your documents never leave your device.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information we do NOT collect
- The contents of any PDF or document you process
- Any text, images or data within your files
- File names, file sizes or file metadata from processed documents
- Your name or email address (unless you contact us voluntarily)
2.2 Information we do collect
- Usage analytics — pages visited, tools used, session duration (anonymised, no personal identifiers)
- Technical data — browser type, OS, screen resolution (standard web analytics data)
- IP address — temporarily logged by web servers, not stored or linked to any activity
- Cookies — see Section 4 below
- Contact information — if you contact us via the contact form, we receive your name, email and message
3. How we use collected information
- To understand which tools are used and how to improve them
- To detect and resolve technical errors
- To respond to contact form enquiries
- To serve contextual, non-targeted advertising (see Section 5)
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.
4. Cookies
We use the following types of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the website to function. Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how the site is used. Can be disabled via our cookie banner.
- Advertising cookies — used to serve relevant adverts. Can be disabled via our cookie banner.
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in our footer, or by using your browser’s privacy settings.
5. Advertising
CuroPDF displays advertising to support free access to our tools. Our advertising:
- Is contextual — based on page content, not your personal profile
- Is never targeted based on your document contents (which we cannot access)
- May use cookies to limit ad frequency and measure performance
- Is never placed inside output files — your downloaded PDFs are clean
6. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are based in the UK or EU, you have the following rights:
- Right of access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data
- Right to restrict processing — request we limit how we use your data
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via our contact page. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months for customer service purposes, then deleted. Analytics data is retained in aggregated, anonymised form only. We do not retain any document data because we never receive it.
8. Third-party services
Our website uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics — anonymised website usage analytics
- Cloudflare — CDN and security services
- Google Fonts — font delivery
- CDN providers — delivery of PDF.js, jsPDF and other libraries
9. Security
Because we do not receive your files, the largest privacy risk of conventional online PDF tools — your documents being stored on servers — does not apply to CuroPDF. For data we do hold (contact enquiries, analytics), we use industry-standard security measures.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Contact
For privacy-related questions, requests or complaints, contact us via our contact page. We will respond within 30 days as required by GDPR.
